Matthew is an Urban Planner in Winnipeg, working primarily in the private sector for the local planning and development firm Richard + Wintrup. He is known for providing holistic project management driven by strong leadership abilities, a keen eye for design, and meaningful community engagement. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering as well as a Master of City Planning from the University of Manitoba. His Major Degree Project (Tactical Urbanism in Winnipeg, Manitoba) explores the use of short-term tactics as a means for long-term change in all sectors of planning.

Matthew has accrued experience working across multiple city-building disciplines and has helped to carry out numerous strategic plans. As both project lead and support for projects across Manitoba, he is passionate about helping communities build their capacity for sustainable growth through planning and delivering mutually-beneficial outcomes. Additionally, his interest in tactical urbanism and community-led initiatives has led him to organize events around Winnipeg in support of relevant urban issues and the local arts community.
