The purpose of the Master Class is to learn from the international leaders in cycling provision… the Dutch, and to understand how their cycling planning and design practices may be applied to specific case studies in Winnipeg.
This 1.5 day Master Class is perfect for practicing and emerging engineers, planners, advocates, policy experts, students and more.
The first day begins with a kick-off presentation about Winnipeg to provide the local context for participants and, most importantly, for the expert Mr. Herbert Tiemens. We then hear from Herbert about cycling in the Netherlands, followed by a more informal discussion of specific design solutions and questions, before introducing the more interactive component which will take place for the rest of the afternoon and over the next day.
The second day is spent working in groups to apply Dutch design concepts to carefully chosen case studies in Winnipeg. The intent of the exercise is to provide innovative ideas for future projects similar to the case studies.
Space in this workshop is limited due to the size of the room and structure of the workshop. Be sure to register separately (passholders by using the FREE with all-access pass). Contact us before booking if you are unsure.
